Breaking from the travelogue for a moment, it appears that Japanese scientists have captured the first ever photographs of a living Giant Squid!
Kinda creepy, huh ?
Apparently though several have washed up on beaches from time to time, the beastie's never been seen alive, and the photos give insight into its hunting methods. Previously it was thought to sort of float about in the depths and entangle whatever happened to come past, however the photographs show that it moves horizontally (I guess like “normal sized” squid) and goes after its prey.
I for one can't wait for the US Government to approve funding to go to capture one and put it on display in a tourist park. I'd like to see them use Celine Dion as bait.
