Here is an update for all interested parties: the albatross is now correctly installed.It is seabird flavoured.
Birthday awesomeness part deux: delectable @kanada_ya_ldn ramen at home (via @thedishpatch). This is the gold standard in ramen, folks. Just breathtakingly good. Also, treated myself to opening a new pair of red Explorer socks from my stockpile. The iconic, indestructible sock that money can't buy (any more). @thisisathalie to thank for that (in about 2005).

Thanks everyone for all the lovely birthday wishes – will hopefully catch up with the rest of those over the next few days. To celebrate I was treated to an AMAZING meal (thankyou @freedoughballs) of Fish Tacos, Barbecoa Burritos, and Bundt! Nice wine, great company, and much contented smugness ensued.
Homeward bound. One day we may laugh about all this. Probably not today though.
