I know the original Time Bandits was a kids’ film. I know I’m not a kid. Nostalgically, this show doesn’t hold a candle to Gilliam’s original. Objectively, it was a pile of crap – I’m a pretty laid back bloke, and yet the kid in the lead role really made me want to punch him in the face. I felt like this show struggled to figure out what it wanted to be, and I guess we’ll never find out now that it’s not being renewed. Pity. Great pedigree – and really made me smile to see Shaun Micallef pop up in the cast.
